The Conseil des appellations réservées et des termes valorisants (CARTV) has made every effort to respect the privacy of Internet users. No personal information will be collected without prior consent from the Web surfer.

Automatic information transfers

The CARTV Web site does not place any permanent cookies on the user's hard disk. Nevertheless, as soon as you access our site www.cartvquebec.com<, an exchange of information automatically takes place between your computer and the CARTV site server. Although it does not identify you personally, the following information is exchanged:

  1. The Internet domain name (for example, "xcompagnie.com," if you are using a private Internet access account or "university.edu" if you are access our site from a university). Your IP address is also exchanged (in general, an IP address is a unique number assigned to the computer that you are using to connect to the Internet, and it allows document transfers to occur without error)

  2. The type of navigator and operating system used to access our site

  3. The date and time of your visit;

  4. The pages that you visit; and

  5. If you have accessed www.cartvquebec.com from another site (reference site), its address is also noted.

This data transfer is necessary to allow our server to transmit a file to you in a format compatible with the computer equipment you are using. This information only is collected to meet technical requirements inherent in Internet navigation and only concerns visitor statistics such as: number of visitors, pages most often visited, technology used by visitor, visitor reference sites and country of origin.

Information that you voluntarily transmit to us

In compliance with the Act Respecting Access to Documents Held by Public Bodies and the Protection of Personal Information, the ministry or organization requesting personal information from you must be sure that it needs to collect this information (Article 64), it must identified itself and must inform you of the (extract from Article 65):

  • name and address of the public body on whose behalf the information is being collected;
  • use to which the information will be put;
  • categories of persons who will have access to the information;
  • fact that your reply is either obligatory or optional;
  • consequences to the person concerned or, as the case may be, to the third person, in case of a refusal to reply;
  • rights of access and corrective measures provided for by the law.

If you choose to transmit personal information to us, either through e-mail or through filling in a form, rest assured that we only use the information needed to respond to your request and to act upon it. We handle E-mail messages with the same degree of confidentiality as we do snail mail.

Personal information transmitted is only communicated to another government agency in cases where your request is addressed to this organization or if this information transfer is required by law. In no case will information be transmitted for the purpose of setting up user profiles, nor will it be transmitted to a private organization of any kind.

The CARTV site provides you with links to a few other portals belonging to either public or private organizations. As soon as you leave our site, the information exchanged is no longer governed by the CARTV's confidentiality policy, but by that of the site being visited, if applicable.

The CARTV complies with provisions of the Official Languages Law and is committed to making sure that all data and services available on this site be available in both English and French.
