Most experts believe that in our industrialized countries organic food has become a way of life. In Quebec, as in the rest of Canada, the amount of organic food being consumed is constantly increasing.

Until the end of the last decade, only a limited number of customers would choose organic products. Today, a much broader section of the population is being seduced by them, demonstrating they are very concerned about their health. Contrary to popular opinion, those who purchase organic products are not just from upper echelons of society, but they represent all levels. Customers with higher education, however, are willing to pay higher prices for organic products.
According to numerous studies carried out over the three last years, more than 40% of Quebec consumers now seem to be buying organic products, with 20% of them doing so on a regular basis.

The "Aliment certifié BIO du Québec" logo is an official trademark controlled by the Conseil des appellations réservés et des termes valorisants (CARTV). The CARTV will soon be making it available to Quebec businesses for use in labelling of their certified organic products.
