The Act Respecting Reserved Designations 
Quebec uses a legal framework (Act A 20.02) whereby certification is compulsory for any designation reserved by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
The Act Respecting Reserved Designations was passed in 1996 and its regulations became effective in 1997.
